Styling Products
As a curly-haired girl, I've tried so many products my head just spins.  I'm thrilled there are so many product lines now available to
curly hair textures.  It's a full time job just trying to stay current.  I invite my clients to bring their products they love to their
appointments with me so that I can learn about new items.  I know what it's like to have product loyalty and I respect your
choice.  I do not recommend any product to anyone that I have not used and liked in my own hair or have found great success
with other clients.

Dimethicone / Silicone
I'm not a fan of these ingredients on curly hair, but they do the trick to smooth hair and keep it under control.  These ingredients
tend to build up on the hair, requiring the use of shampoos, even clarifying/chelating shampoos!

"Silk" serums can be too heavy and if you put too much in your hair, you'll have to shampoo your hair all over again.  Many times,
the serum will leave your hair soft, but by the end of the day it's a frizzy mess and it doesn't want to fall into its natural curl pattern
because the serum has weighed the hair down.

I prefer to use product lines that contain natural emollients such as shea butter, jojoba oil, beeswax, olive oil, etc. I highly
recommend products by Jessicurl, Giovanni, Curls.biz, Max Green Alchemy, and John Masters Organics.

Mousse / Gel  / Creme
Mousse is great for fine lightweight hair.  To apply, rub the mousse in your hands until the foam disappears.  What???? You say...
The foam allows the styling product to dissipate quickly into a light layer, it's not meant to go directly into your hair.  Please use a
manual pump dispenser rather than a product that contains BUTANE under pressure.  Yuck, who would want lighter fluid in their
hair?

Gel is great for many hair types, from fine to thick.  However, the thicker and curlier your hair, I recommend adding leave-in
conditioner in your hair.  You can also "cocktail" creme and gel together.

Creme gives minimal hold and also relaxers the curl pattern.  If you like to go to 2nd day/3rd day and beyond, a creme style
product might leave your hair feeling too dirty.  Curls Milkshake/Curl Souffle/Whipped Cream by Curls.biz is awesome!

Anti-frizz sprays and pomades are great additions to your curly hair arsenal.
